In 2014, Mercedes-Benz introduced the U.S. to the B-Class Electric Drive. A small multipurpose electric vehicle with four doors and a hatchback, the B-Class was short in length, tall in height, and narrow. Its electric drivetrain supplied an EPA-rated 87 miles of driving range, and it inefficiently consumed energy at a rate of 40 kWh per 100 miles of travel. During its four-year life in the U.S. market, the B-Class Electric Drive saw few changes, though in 2016 it adopted a B 250e designation. The B-Class had upscale design cues married to Mercedes emblems. But it did not innovate. The final model year for the B250e was 2017.
